Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you are planning a full renovation, reworking the layout of your home or simply trying to understand where to begin, these are some of the questions we are most often asked at Studio Jute.
Our work combines interior design and interior architecture, helping clients across the Isle of Wight and south coast create homes that feel thoughtful, cohesive and deeply connected to the people living in them.
Studio Jute is an interior design and interior architectural studio based on the Isle of Wight. We design homes, commercial and hospitality spaces that feel calm, personal and properly lived in.
Working across renovations, extensions and full furnishing projects, we help clients create spaces that function beautifully day to day, not just visually. Our work sits between interior design and interior architecture, combining thoughtful aesthetics with spatial planning, bespoke detailing and technical design development.
To support the decorative side of a project, we produce detailed CAD drawing packages including floorplans, bespoke joinery elevations, lighting and electrical layouts and contractor ready drawings that help execute the design as intended. We work closely with other deign professionals throughout the renovation process to ensure each project feels cohesive from the earliest planning stages through to completion.
Most clients come to us because they want their home or business to feel more considered, connected and reflective of how they actually live.
Every project is slightly different, and we work across all scales of design, from full home renovations and commercial or hospitality projects through to single-room schemes and 1:1 consultations. Whether you need support reworking an entire property or simply want professional guidance for a few key decisions, we tailor our involvement to suit your project and where you are in the process.
Typically we help clients with things like reworking layouts, designing kitchens and bathrooms, bespoke joinery, lighting plans, technical CAD drawings, material selections, furnishing schemes and overall project management.
We are particularly strong technically, which means we do not just hand over a moodboard, we produce detailed drawing packages that contractors can actually build from. That might include kitchen elevations, cabinetry details, electrical layouts, tile set-outs or fully resolved joinery drawings.
The aim is always to make the process feel clearer and more joined up for everyone involved.
If you are renovating and feeling overwhelmed by decisions already, you're probably at the right stage to get in touch.
Yes, this is an important part of what we do. Detailed CAD drawings and visuals are tools we use in every project to communicate design ideas and ensure they are fully resolved before work starts on site.
A lot of clients come to us after realising they need more than just decoration advice. They need someone to think through how the space works, how things will be built and how all the details connect together.
For example, we might draw:
kitchens plans and elevations
utility rooms
bathroom layouts
lighting and electrical plans
custom joinery
tile layouts
electrical plans
We genuinely enjoy the technical side of projects and believe it is often the difference between a project looking fine and a project feeling properly considered.
Because good design is about far more than finishes. Our role is to help make the entire process feel more cohesive and less stressful.
The way a space flows, where lighting sits, how storage works, how rooms connect and how the house feels to move through all matter just as much as the final aesthetic.
At Studio Jute we approach projects holistically. We think carefully about people, place and past. That means respecting the character of a property while making it work better for modern life.
This is especially important on the Isle of Wight where so many homes have strong architectural character, coastal influences or unusual
layouts from years of additions and alterations.
Earlier than you think!
Ideally we are involved to work through layouts, electrics and plumbing. Even small decisions early on can completely change how successful a space feels later.
That said, not every project is a full renovation. We also work on furnishing and interior refresh projects where clients simply want their space to feel calmer, more cohesive or better resolved.
If you are currently collecting inspiration images, speaking to trades or starting to feel overwhelmed by choices, now is probably a good time to reach out.
No.
While we do work on substantial renovations and full design packages, we also take on smaller projects where clients value thoughtful design and want help making confident decisions.
Often it is not about the size of the project. It is about wanting the space to feel intentional and properly finished.
Yes. Hospitality projects are a growing part of our work, with several completed projects across the Isle of Wight in Seaview, Bembridge, Brook, Freshwater and Ventnor.
Designing for hospitality is a completely different brief to residential interiors. Alongside creating spaces that feel welcoming, memorable and visually distinctive, there are also practical considerations around regulations, durability, guest flow, operational use, maintenance and the overall guest experience.
We understand the balance between creating atmosphere and designing spaces that work hard behind the scenes too. Having worked on boutique holiday homes and hospitality spaces, we are well placed to help clients avoid some of the common and often unexpected pitfalls that can arise throughout the process, from layout decisions and lighting through to material selections and long-term practicality.
The aim is always to create spaces that not only photograph beautifully, but feel effortless to spend time in and stand the test of time commercially.
