Interior Design Project ~ Before & After

Our photoshoot at Orchard Lea on the Isle of Wight took place on a sunny day in mid December (what luck!) with the weather on our side we were able to capture the relaxed, sunny, family beach house vibe perfectly.
We all love a before & after, so here are a few of our favourite shots and how we brought the concept to life.
Dining Room
This space didn’t have a clear purpose, as an add on to the original house it had become a corridor and general dumping ground. By moving the dining room here, we created a sociable family space with views of the garden.
The star of this space is the lighting; the pendant is handmade from paper and limestone in the most beautiful organic shape inspired by the coastline. The table is bespoke; we specified curved edges for ease of use and to soften all the vertical lines in the room. A comfortable bench cushion in a hard-wearing weave and some colourful chairs- the shape of which reference the lighting in the adjoining sitting room- make this a practical space for entertaining or simply sitting comfortably with a drink.
Snug
Of the four reception rooms this area needed the most work to bring it in line with the rest of the ground floor. Originally a living room, we made this the snug and intentionally created contrast between this dark cosy room and the adjoining bright and warm sunroom. We added full-height panelling, which softens acoustics and gives an immersive feeling. A sofa bed and curtains across the opening allow this to easily become an extra bedroom if required. But mostly, when the curtains and blinds are closed, this is a cosy snug room, perfect for family life when the children are watching TV and the adults are entertaining or in the sitting room
Sitting Room
A formal arrangement set up for conversation around the fireplace, we wanted this space to have a sense of bringing people together. Beautiful details, such as the steam-bent lighting and mirror, a soft wool rug, and linen sofa, add textural interest and all-important colour to the room, which gets less natural light due to the extension. We used colour to guide the flow through the space, the palette throughout is consistent, bringing the four spaces together, yet each has its own identity and purpose.
A fabulous project to work on with the best clients, who fully trusted the process.
